Preston’s Kia Celebrates America’s Birthday, Thunder Road Stars on Thursday, July 3

Barre, VT – Somehow July has already hit the Green Mountain State and that can only mean one thing; It’s time for Central Vermont’s Largest Fireworks Display at Thunder Road Speedbowl with the help of Preston’s Kia and Northstar Fireworks! The weekly warriors return to the Barre highbanks this Thursday ready to continue their championship chases while all look forward to spending the evening under Northstar’s massive fireworks display to kick-off the July 4th holiday weekend!

Jason Corliss and the Kinney Drugs crew have been back in usual form this summer, continuing to lead the points chase in the Maplefields/Irving Oil Late Models. However, a less-than-stellar performance in the second of their CCV Double Features last week has allowed Marcel Gravel and Christopher Pelkey to join the same bracket, within six points of each other. The top four, including Brandon Lanphear, remain winless this season and all look to take the win in front of the big holiday crowd expected.

Speaking of holding the point lead, Colchester’s Sam Caron didn’t bobble with a pair of top-10 finishes last Thursday to maintain his stand atop the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers. Brendan Moodie and Cameron Ouellette continue to be in the hunt as Logan Powers continues to battle gremlins in his #31VT machine back in fourth overall. Ouelette has certainly been the most consistent with six top-10 finishes in seven starts and is certainly a favorite to take the Preston’s Kia trophy dash on Thursday.

The rk Miles Street Stocks faced quite a shake-up last week with point leader and defending champion Dean Switser Jr. getting knocked out of the first race and unable to start the second. Switser has now lost the lead to a pair of Davis’ in former, two-time champion Jamie Davis and returning full-timer Kyler Davis. Though in no way related, both drivers are some of the smoothest runners in the top four-cylinder division and now sit separated by just two points with Switser now fourteen points out of the money.

Graniteville’s Derek Mann and Moretown’s Neal Foster split the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors double features last week with Foster becoming the first two-time winner in 2025. There remains a hungry group of up and comers looking for their first win of the season and what better way to get it than under the Northstar Fireworks display on Thursday?

Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl is back in action Thursday, July 3 for the Preston’s Kia Independence Day Spectacular featuring Central Vermont’s  Northstar Fireworks display! The Maplefields/Irving Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, rk Miles Street Stocks and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors are all back to battle on the Barre highbanks just before Central Vermont’s biggest fireworks display courtesy of Northstar Fireworks with a 7:00pm Post Time.
