Supermodifieds Ready for McGee Hyundai Super Thursday Night Opener at Thunder Road

Barre, VT – After a spectacular Sunday afternoon affair that saw Shelburne’s Kaiden Fisher make Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour history, the Thunder Road faithful return to Quarry Hill to ring in the season with the first Thursday night race of the summer on June 5! McGee Hyundai of Barre presents the Thursday Night Opener and it’s a SUPER Thursday with an invasion from the lightning-fast New England Supermodified Series!

After starting their season off on May 11 at Star Speedway, the New England Supermodified Series (NESS) gets back on track this Thursday at Thunder Road for a 75-lap affair on the Barre highbanks. Former NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Jon McKennedy currently leads the NESS standings over Matt Swanson and Ben Seitz with all three looking for their first NESS championship in 2025.

After an off weekend with the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour in town, the Maplefields/Irving Late Models return to the highbanks for McGee Hyundai of Barre Super Thursday. By virtue of his Mekkelsen Memorial Day Classic win, Bryan Wall Jr. leads the standings of the Thunder and Lightning division while this week’s 50-lap sprint may come at a cost to Wall’s winning ways. The young, next generation driver used some late race strategy to pace ahead of Jason Corliss and Scott Dragon but the veterans who call Thunder Road home are sure to have something up their sleeves for Thursday Night #1!

Both the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks are smack in the middle of a quick, four day maintenance shuffle to prepare for the McGee Hyundai of Barre Thursday Night Opener. With a pair of Sunday afternoon specials, former champion Sam Caron currently leads the Flying Tigers while Flyin’ Fred Fleury is atop the Street Stock standings.

The Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors also return on Thursday night. So far Cayden Green and Neal Foster have taken victories in the non-point starter division, we’ll have to wait and see who hoists the McGee Hyundai trophy on Thursday.

Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl begins World Famous Thursday Night Racing this Thursday, June 5 with McGee Hyundai of Barre night. McGee Hyundai Super Thursday is complete with the New England Supermodified Series (NESS) plus action-packed track championship battles for the Maplefields/Irving Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, rk Miles Street Stocks and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors with a 7:00pm Post Time. Adult General Admission will be on sale for $20, kids 12-6 for $5 and, as always, children 5 and under free! The Family Four Pack (two adults, two kids) is also available for $40.
