Casella Waste Systems Night Set to Include Thrills for All Ages!

NEAR Nostalgia, Free Admission for Scouts and Marvin Johnson Non-Winners Race on Thursday’s Schedule

Barre, VT – Casella Waste Systems returns to Thunder Road this Thursday, June 12 to support an action packed Thursday night of racing at the Nation’s Site of Excitement. With regularly scheduled programing for the Maplefields/Irving Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks, the New England Antique Racers are back in town, as is the 11th annual Marvin Johnson Memorial First-Time Winner’s Race and all Scouts in Uniform get in free!

The rk Miles Street Stocks take center stage this Thursday with, essentially, twin features on the docket. The four-cylinder masters of the Barre highbanks have gone green to checkered in their first three feature events of the season, not throwing a single caution flag in these 25-lap feature races! Should the same hold true on June 12, a packed field of non-winners will compete in the 11th annual Marvin Johnson Memorial Race, a 19-lap event in memory of longtime Street Stock driver Marvin Johnson with the winner set to earn their first Street Stock win at The Road on Thursday.

The New England Auto Racers also converge on Quarry Hill this Thursday for a peak into yesteryear with plenty of cars from Thunder Road’s 66-year history set to hit the asphalt once again. This is the first race for these veterans and their ancient mounts this year as the NEAR Antique Racers will make the trek to New England’s oldest institutions throughout the summer months.

The Maplefields/Irving Late Models and Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers are also set to make some history on Thursday night. It’s a dead-heat tie atop the Late Model rankings between multi-time King of the Road Jason Corliss and defending Vermont Milk Bowl champion Marcel Gravel. Opening Day winner Sam Caron continues to head the Flying Tiger ranks but after last week’s fight to the line with Logan Powers, Brendan Moodie sits close by, looking for his second championship at Thunder Road.

The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers may also be playing a little strategy this Thursday as the teams prepare for next week’s opening round in the Myers Container Service Triple Crown!
